as well as peripheral to our topic<br/>
i wont try to tell a whole story<br/>
tho i was among the first to arrive & last to leave<br/>

basically it was just a new england town meeting to<br/>
the max<br/>
& somewhat euphoric in tone but not really a carnival<br/>
<br/>
mostly a lot of quiet serious folks but great speakers<br/>
& some fiery ones<br/>

only 4 of the roughly 200 who showed up came in 18th<br/>
century drag<br/>
of whom ethan allen was easily the superstar<br/>
<br/>
funniest moment was when he declared with great<br/>
animation<br/>
vermont joined the union over my dead body<br/>
<br/>
many non vermonters & recent arrivals present <br/>
some from as far away as hungary hawaii etc<br/>
<br/>
current plan is to summon delegates from every town in<br/>
vermont at coming town meetings<br/>
to another statewide convention<br/>
while raising the 50 grand needed to do opinion poll<br/>
of the electorate<br/>

within recent memory<br/>
when the federal government overruled the locally<br/>
chosen format<br/>
vermont even as a state was still a republic <br/>
of towns<br/>
<br/>
one rep from each town<br/>
<br/>
not any longer tho<br/>
<br/>
some say they will need & expect to get 2 thirds of<br/>
the electorate<br/>
while others believe as much as 3 quarters may be<br/>
necessary<br/>
<br/>
a concern about federal invasion to block secession<br/>
was parried by<br/>
secession isnt the same thing as firing on fort sumter<br/>
<br/>

vermont <br/>
most likely to secede<br/>
<br/>
renting the house of representatives for the day cost<br/>
only 35 bucks<br/>
<br/>
& i hope you noticed that the fortuitous akwesasne<br/>
connection brought by hugh actually provided the<br/>
opportunity to replay an earlier visit to one of<br/>
vermonts prospective tricountry points<br/>
the present caus2nyqcvt in lake champlain<br/>
which i happened to visit on the same day quite by<br/>
chance<br/>
& for which a class d pic from the rouses point bridge<br/>
