probably erroneous but unqualified & uncorrected
reports recently posted to the normally reliable int
boundaries list & borderpoint
are now being reiterated routinely by major media

the 3rd paragraph from the end here
http://www.macleans.ca/topstories/politics/news/shownews.jsp?content=n072643A
repeats the apparent misinformation about hans island
having cadk littermates
that was apparently first published in the 4th
paragraph from the end here
http://north.cbc.ca/regional/servlet/View?filename=hans_island25072005
& reported on those lists

the facts however apparently remain

http://www.law.fsu.edu/library/collection/LimitsinSeas/maps/ls72small.php
http://www.law.fsu.edu/library/collection/LimitsinSeas/ls072.pdf
all of which explains why this is not a dispute at all
but simply an agreement to differ & party share
liberally toasted thru the years with all the
necessary drinks winks & diplomatic protestations
but in any case
so far as is definitely known
involving only a single island
which the parties have deliberately enshrined in this
unique way

note especially the 2 special cacadkdk party share
multipoints at opposite ends of the island
which qualifies it in this way not as a no mans land
nor an everyones land
but as an eithers land
or an informal time share condominium

these multipoints are no mistake or accident or
liberal sprinkling
but indeed the only known such pair in the world
