the beginning of it already seems far away<br/>
but i do recall that the first try of the day & 6th of<br/>
the berkshires overall was for mootsa<br/>

there i parked near the dammed mouth of royal pond as<br/>
planned<br/>

& snuck past the intervening house unobserved &<br/>
crossed the dam ok<br/>
but found the trail along the south side of the pond<br/>
shown in the 1915 border bible no longer maintained &<br/>
mostly overgrown<br/>
so i just bushwhacked in the right general direction<br/>
til i got high enough to see the road stone across the<br/>
pond as promised by the bible<br/>
tho not shown on the topo<br/>
just so as to get a fix on the objective<br/>
which proved unnecessary as i soon met the line of<br/>
pink tapes that also showed the way along the moot<br/>
town line<br/>
at the end of which i found mootsa right where<br/>
expected but slouching<br/>
so she didnt stand out at first <br/>
but took me by surprise even as i was gazing right<br/>
thru & past her <br/>

& indeed not only was she slouching but she was so<br/>
loose i just picked her up & banged her several times<br/>
against the tree <br/>
as i called her affectionately mootsarella<br/>
but had to guess the true tripoint was at her base &<br/>
no longer at her apex at all<br/>

only a short distance from mootsa was mootty<br/>

but yikes she too gave right away <br/>
albeit not so freely as her ultraloose mootmate<br/>

still little wonder that i found her 7 feet farther<br/>
from the road center than she had been reported in<br/>
1915<br/>

but i also made sure to take advantage of the precious<br/>
opportunity to score the worlds first known drive up<br/>
window visit<br/>
even if i had to lean rather far out the window to<br/>
accomplish it<br/>

approach road her<br/>
so beotty was actually not even the 4th to be bagged<br/>
but in fact 5th<br/>
& all evidently just because i was actually quite far<br/>
from where i thought i was due to an error i had made<br/>
yesterday in my preparation<br/>
& which i still havent yet completely figured out<br/>
but which required the trip to the lee library <br/>
where i also posted the interim report<br/>
