There are offcourse DE and DK minorities left on both side of the border
and they function quite well.

But in many parts of the world minorities within a country is a source of
unrest or potential unrest.

Just imagine Africa today if the colony borders were drawn along "national"
lines.

There was no point in forcing thousands of Germans (including Flensburg)
to change country just because DK wanted more land.
