i see now

but it seems to me that if they are using the words droit & gauche
here to refer to the banks of the rivers
in the same way as we do in english
specifically
with the speaker facing downstream
then these parcels are more likely explained as some sort of
special cessions from the original condo area
that are adjacent to their metropoles
rather than separated from them
