well i expect to be drifting south thru that neighborhood around
the middle of october with the foliage peak
& then returning northbound again around cherry blossom time
as i am somewhat limited latitudinally by my heaterless truck
but would you care to aim for either or even both of those
windows with me
i believe low water conditions will be far more critical to our
success than low veggie conditions anyway
as i do recall the lower bank area was almost entirely bare rock
the veggies are probably hiding the dcva reference marker tho
since it is at the high water level
& it wont hurt to find that baby too & might even be essential
so i agree winter or spring could prove to be better than fall
but frankly i can hardly wait to see what this new improved
access route from the chain bridge looks like
so i think october most likely just owing to the excitement factor
& regardless of the conditions
yet maybe one of our dc area members will help or beat us to the
punch
now that the access info has been laid out there
say
next time the river is down
or better yet
first chance they get
regardless of the river
but of course an immediate foray would still be only exploratory
since we are still waiting for the mathews & nelson report
anyway
to reveal the exact location of the true tripoint
my best guess at this point is that dcmdvan lies usually just off
the right bank
& almost perpetually under white water
except at times of lowest low water
& thus dries out maybe only once a year or decade or century
but i expect it will not remain in the realm of guesswork for long
any further thoughts or preferences at this point tho
