Dear BPs...

I guess we're all curious about how this conflict develops....I suggest Doug M. and Peter H. should be given the authority to settle this matter in August - over 1 (???) pint of Guinness in CPH...!

WELL, BUT there HAS actually been some writing about this conflict
in today's Danish paper "Politiken"...
I'll put the (beautiful!!) picture of Hans Ø with the Danish flag
- sorry Doug! - into the photo section of BP later....!

Text under picture:

To the top: In 2002, the crew from the inspection vessel "Aries"
went ashore in order to erect a stonemarker on the island, as well
as setting a new flagpole on the SE corner of Hans Ø, which happens
to be the highest elevation on the island.
Right now, "Dannebrog" (name for the Danish flag, PH) waves over
the island, but this lasts probably only untill the moment the next Canadian frigate passes by...

First few lines of the article:

"ICEBERGS to become part of the dispute with Canada!"

"Hans Ø belongs to Canada", the Canadian foreign minister states
about this 3 km long rocky island W of Greenland.
"We've lost it long time ago", the opposition replies...

all yours

Peter H.
