I am trying to track down some information on a ghost town on the
Algeria-Morocco frontier. Here is what I know from a friend of mine:

>> ... The ghost town in the Sahara was called Tmardanit, or so our
>> guides told us. It’s located in an area of desert known as the
>> Merdani (just east of the Erg Chebbi dunes). It is several miles west
>> of a tiny town called Merzouga which is just south of a larger town
>> called Erfoud (just below the 32ndparallel on the Morroco/Algerian
>> border).  I know the mayor of Merzouga and he would be a natural font
>> of information on what happened in that area in the 40s and 50s.
>> Bedouin sometimes still visit the abandoned villages.

Does anyone have anything to add?

Cheers!
