ok thanx jesper

i believe your memory must be right

& so for whatever it may be worth
besides the fun i am having with it
for which thanx again to all
here is my best guess
based on all your combined data & answers
& taking into account the nonanswers too

i think your overall assessment must be correct
because i suspect marker 46plus1379 may just be the soviet
replacement &or euphemism for the long lost & forgotten eelv
monument 1 dating from 1922 iirc
when it would have begun its service as 1 of the 3 witness
markers for the presoviet eelvru

& my speculation continues
the 2 companion markers on the lvru side must have been
pulled when the soviets extended eeru down to monument 47
& rerouted lvru to meet it there
as shown on the old topo

& this may explain why the fence seems to be a few meters too
far north
for it would have had to stand clear of the border strip between
the presoviet lv & ru posts
while the single monument on the ee side would presumably be
centered on this lvru border strip rather than aligned with the
fence along its edge

so i believe you have made a perfectly good albeit slightly
diffused class c visit to the truest available if not yet actual eelvru
as you gazed into the stream here between the marker & the
fence end
& that you have also paid at least as good a call on the expiring
but technically still effective soviet eelvru at the thalweg junction
supposedly 2 meters below marker 47

the exact crosshairs i have been seeking where the thalweg
passes between the fence end & marker 46plus1379
in order to determine the sharpest possible class c or b visit
may perhaps be found by simply imagining a line parallel to the
fence line striking the center of the monument
& then looking for the point on this parallel line that is crossed by
the visible thread of the stream
or else feeling for the deepest point encountered while crossing
the stream on that imaginary line

& i believe a similarly exacting try may be possible for byltpl
which btw i would also love to hear more about
& an even better determination & try may be possible for bylvru
by actually seeing the thalweg wye junction itself
or at worst probing the stream beds for it

in fact all 3 such tries might make inner tubing with a tape
measure on the bois de sioux look positively extreme in every
regard

so based on everything reported & not reported so far
i believe you have not only made 3 very close class c visits to
these challenging points but have also given us bright prospects
for future class b visits to all 3 as well

& perhaps some day
when the guards arent hovering quite so close
& the schedule isnt so hectic
a tripoint dance as water ballet
