I am afraid you are wrong, Lowell!

It is opposite - the governments maybe could hope that it will become a
tourist attraction. So far it certainly is not as it is almost impassable. I
can not see that they have spent any extra money. What we have there is
three ordinary markers and one geodetic marker!

It's a bureaucratic accommodation to the reality that people are going to
want
to get their pictures taken at this spot. After all, the three governments
have
gone to more trouble and expense than necessary to dress it up with their
national colors, etc. It's a tourist attraction!
