so well begin by us all including not only asher & arif & me but all <br/>
the other participants & witnesses of this ongoing & manifold <br/>
quest <br/>
did not end yesterday<br/>
but will be continued by phone at the next opportunity<br/>

for tho the federal authorities on the island couldnt satisfy our <br/>
curiosity as to why the state line isnt marked or shown or even <br/>
mentioned anywhere on the island<br/>
& tho i think they may have mumbled some lame excuses<br/>
while reciting quite a few accurate facts about the case<br/>
i would still think the government of new jersey at least<br/>
which pursued this expensive lawsuit purely for bragging rights<br/>
might take an interest in the fact that tho they won the suit<br/>
they evidently gained no ability to even mention not to say brag <br/>
about it on the ground where it counts<br/>

& moreover <br/>
someone needs to tell them they could probably run a similar <br/>
number around liberty island too<br/>
if they really wanted the prestige<br/>
& without incurring nearly so much expense<br/>
but perhaps just the cost of painting a dotted line around the <br/>
bulkhead<br/>
since there is clearly a little extra fill added all around it likewise<br/>
which people could relate to as the real territory that it is<br/>

as for dallens question about the gift shop<br/>
we did ascertain that all the cash registers are in new york<br/>
& that a good deal of the merchandise is displayed in new jersey<br/>
but forgot to confirm which way the tax receipts went<br/>
or whether there was any split<br/>

as for our intended circumambulation of new york territory<br/>
it was severely truncated at several points by restricted access<br/>
& there were several potentially interesting areas of the circuit we <br/>
never got to see just because they are in such ruin<br/>
<br/>
& the very fact that the line runs thru such seedy areas & might <br/>
entice people like us to try to follow it into them could account for <br/>
the federal reticence to draw any attention to it <br/>

hmm<br/>
i see there are now less than 5 hours of bp june left to go<br/>
& am wondering how many more messages we still need<br/>
as i am getting a little sleepy & havent even begun to drink<br/>
