Right, no pure enclaves, but if the tip of the small peninsula is only connected to the 'motherland' then it forms a pene-enclave. There is no longer a welcome sign on the eastern shore of the island, only pavement change. On the N-S road on the western end of the island, the border is marked with a small stone wall, and where it meets the road, the pavement changes. About 50 meters further up the hill is a sign saying 'Welcome to the French side', but there isn't a welcome sign entering the Dutch side.

Maarten
Where might this "pene" be? The border
is curcy, but fairly straight,
leaving little chance for there to
be other than an isolated tip of
land forming detached pieces
connected only by territorial waters to
"motherland" St. Martin,
but no enclvaes. There is a border marker
on the N-S road on the eastern
shore of the lagoon, and there is a
sign welcoming one to France on the
N-S road on the eastern shore of
the island. The border goes
through the middle of a small island in
the lagoon and crosses E-W the peninsula
forming the western wall of
the lagoon. When I drove N
from Mullet Bay resort on this western
strip of land, I don't recall a
sign when I crossed into France, but I
recall that the road surface and
the appearance of the architecture
changed.
