RE: [BoundaryPoint] Vermont Circumnavigation
Your recollection is correct.  I did not see the sign on the house but I did notice the convenience store/house.  Interestingly, they had put their trash out for collection on the Canadian side of the street.

Brian, nice pics of Estcourt.  I was there about three years ago, and as far as I can remember there were only about 4.5 houses on the US side of the village, together with a small convenience store (attached to a house and owned by US citizens who only spoke French), two customs offices (one in the village and one further out in the woods where lumber trucks cross), a small post office, and a gas station.  The gas there was significantly cheaper than in Quebec, so it was popular in that area among the Canadian neighbors.  Did you get a chance to walk around the houses that were bisected by the line?  One has a little sign on the outside wall that says 'Can-USA' with a line showing where the exact border is on the wall.

Strange that the topic of Derby Line came up recently.  I am planning
a "circumnavigation" of Vermont in the next few weeks to try out some
camping gear and an inflatable boat in preparation for a more
ambitious pointing adventure later in the summer.  I am planning to
check out Derby Line, plus an island and a peninsula that are
bisected by the boundary, both with monuments according to the topo
map.  Also plan to reach the wet New York - Ontario - Vermont tri-
point in Lake Champlain.

By the way, Peter, you mentioned Estcourt Station, Maine.  Here is a
link to my photos of that place, taken last summer:

There is not much else to see in Estcourt Station, but if you are in
the area, you can visit the Maine - New Brunswick - Québec tri-point,
shown in the following link:
