it points up the fact that these oxbow backwater corners are almost as<br/>
common along the missouri as they are along the mississippi<br/>
but maybe not as famous because they are usually much smaller than this &<br/>
dont show up on most maps<br/>

not far upriver from here<br/>
is another good example<br/>

it is apparently still in process of moving out of an old slough & back<br/>
into the renovated main channel of the missouri<br/>
but it required 2 interstate compacts to change it<br/>
& i believe it is now still waiting in limbo for federal ratification<br/>

the armotn tripoint however seems pretty well stuck in its slough<br/>
<br/>
& it is hard to figure why there is revision in one case but not in another<br/>
