it points up the fact that these oxbow backwater corners are almost as
common along the missouri as they are along the mississippi
but maybe not as famous because they are usually much smaller than this &
dont show up on most maps
the ksmone tristate point
not far upriver from here
is another good example
it is apparently still in process of moving out of an old slough & back
into the renovated main channel of the missouri
but it required 2 interstate compacts to change it
& i believe it is now still waiting in limbo for federal ratification
the armotn tripoint however seems pretty well stuck in its slough
& it is hard to figure why there is revision in one case but not in another
