I want to mention quite a few mostly separate things.
First of all, quite a few countries in the world
probably have all territorial waters belonging to a
central authority while the land belongs to a state.
If in any case, they have a line of possession of
islands, we should take them as some sort of boundary
line instead of completely ignoring them. Hey, we
could get some extra tripoints that way.
In a related note, does anybody know if all German
territorial waters belong to the central government or
not. And whatever the case, does anybody know the
boundaries between Niedersachsen and the Hamburg
islands of Scharhorn and Neuwerk. Some maps show the
boundary on the coastline of Niedersachsen touching
Cuxhaven. If that is so, would the piers belong to
Hamburg?
By the way, there are some other piers which is
crossed by a boundary line. Many piers in Brooklyn
are crossed by the Manhattan boundary line and belongs
to Manhattan. The heads of two Kuwaiti piers near Umm
Qasr belong to Iraq. There might also be one in
Vermont, which I am trying to check.
Does anybody know where Friedrichstrasse station is
and whether it was an enclave as somebody in the
about.com board suggests.
I found a boundary length site
http://www.odci.gov/cia/publications/factbook/fields/land_boundaries.html
which I found a few days ago, but was waiting for a
related e-mail to send. Since there have been none, I
am just giving it right now. It is only for land
boundaries though.
Check out the boundaries of the village of Causey in
New Mexico either in Tiger Maps or Topozone. Some
towns follow a road for part, but not to the degree of
this town. The county land surrounded by the village
has a larger area than the village itself.
Just as a sidenote nothing to do with boundaries,
check out the book "A Place Called Peculiar" about
naming of many odd-named American cities. They do
mention a few places which were named because of its
position in a boundary area such as Texarkana and
Mexicali.
