EA038 is seen here on a bridge at Cow Springs, Arizona, on October 26, 2000, with four of BM&LP's six aging single-cab E60C's and 84 coal cars. The BM&LP E60C's were built in 1972 through 1976. The plan is to use the ex-NdeM E60C's to replace them as they are retired over the next several years. Since BM&LP uses 50 kv power, a transformer has to be added to the 25 kv Mexican locomotives. Other modifications done to EA038 were the removal of the pantograph from the A end and the addition of a second air line for car dumping.
