& here for an ellicott encore are the first known pix of 21st century alflga<br/>
<br/>
the monument is really just a glorified signpost towering above the <br/>
chattahoochee bluff for the benefit of river traffic & is in fact a great <br/>
challenge & peril to photographers<br/>
who must risk falling backwards over the bank to get a decent shot<br/>
<br/>
the degminsec latitude proclaimed is several seconds off<br/>
& it isnt clear whether the monument is intended to be the tripoint marker <br/>
per se<br/>
or only a witness to the tripoint<br/>
which is actually set by statute at the high water mark on the bank of the <br/>
river<br/>
a position which lies several feet away from the base of the monument both <br/>
vertically & horizontally<br/>

but here are 3 pix of the new & one of the old alflga<br/>
which latter you may even recognize as the frontispiece of the old corner <br/>
corner<br/>
