It was to be a very exciting day here in soggy Vancouver.  I gleefully headed downtown to the government map store to pick up the 1:50,000 topos of St. Pierre et Miquelon.  Finally, I hoped, our question would be answered.

They handed me a big roll -- and I spread the maps out on their big table.  The first one revealed the Island of Miquelon.  Nothing of interest there.  Then I unrolled the map of St. Pierre.  And... and... and... IT WAS THE WRONG MAP!

Some sort of numbering error has given two topo maps the same number.  So instead of getting the answer to our burning question, I got a nice view of the middle of Newfoundland.  Not a border to be seen.  How boring!

The map people hopped on the phone -- and said that they would get a new (correct) topo couriered from Ottawa. My fingers are crossed that this will be the right one.

Yours in disappointment,

Doug

Best Vancouver excuse for being late for work:
"A movie was being shot and they detained me for continuity."
