i will at least try to reattach the lost pic here<br/>
showing the present armook monument<br/>
which occupies the alleged or desired phantom quadpoint position<br/>
& will take the opportunity to update my guess about it too<br/>

the old rock shown embedded within this later monument dates perhaps from <br/>
the 1840s at the earliest<br/>
& thus may be too young to have ever served as the megapoint marker in real <br/>
time<br/>
much as i would like to believe & claim that we are seeing a real ghost <br/>
megarock here<br/>

but worse still<br/>
my latest findings seem to dash the hope of there having been any megapoint <br/>
at all in this location<br/>
whether monumented or not<br/>

the problem is or was<br/>
indian territory & indian country appear to have been legally one & the same <br/>
thing<br/>
<br/>
& indian country had been a synonym for the missouri territory possibly <br/>
since its creation in 1812<br/>
<br/>
but apparently indian territory per se wasnt legally established til 1834<br/>
& i think the real smoking gun of the phantoms demise at that point in time<br/>
if indeed it had existed at all until then<br/>
is the description in bus&ss p51 of the east bounds of this entity<br/>
whether new or old<br/>
specifically<br/>
the line of the territory of arkansaw & the state of missouri<br/>
verbatim<br/>
in other words it ran continuously & without stopping at armook<br/>
<br/>
so the reductions of arkansaw to indian country in 1824 & 1828 didnt really <br/>
create & increase a new indian country but in both cases just restored <br/>
former indian country to its previous status<br/>
<br/>
so instead of a phantom megapoint between 1828 & 1834<br/>
as i believed in until this morning<br/>
we really had only the aricmo tripoint<br/>
the trijunction of arkansaw & indian country aka missouri territory & <br/>
missouri state<br/>
& there wasnt & couldnt have been any fourth entity present at that point <br/>
during those years<br/>

in other words<br/>
the entire discussion could be simplified<br/>
& fig 28 could be corrected<br/>
simply by changing the offending word kansas there to indian country<br/>
<br/>
or at least that is my latest & best guess<br/>
& i apologize for being so shifty<br/>
but seeking the truth is often like that<br/>
