Greetings, friends,

I have updated information on the highly interesting
Austrian salient at Mueselbach.

Please find here a large scale map of the area:
http://images.enclaves.org/broeger/Broeger_Map.jpg

The area is very interesting, as it contains many
border crossings and is perfect for hiking. It is
hilly but not mountainous.

The letters A, B and C on the map will help you find
the spots where the following pictures were taken.

The road (pink on the map) leading through the salient
is a dirt road but perfectly usable for an ordinary
car. Granted, there are signs telling you that if you
are not a local farmer, and also not a member of the
BP fraternity, the road is not for you. But it still
works...

This shows the border crossing at A from the DE side.
Border stone at the foot of the "Republik
Oesterreich"-sign.

The border stone from the other side (getting
exciting?)

One sign.

And another sign.

The green, green grass of Broeger salient. DE closest
to the photographer, AT behind the impenetrable fence
to the right. The A border crossing is just in front
of the parked car.

The border crossing at B. Border stone on the lower
right.

The border stone. (Yes, it is a different one)

Still at border crossing B, showing the German
black eagle sign. Sometimes in this area you also find
an elliptic sign saying "Freistaat Bayern", but not
here.

Another black eagle at crossing C. The roof of the
house just visible to the left is the restaurant
Eibelesmuehle, which by the way has an excellent mixed
sausage salad on the menu. And, more important, on the
porch of the restaurant there *is* a "Freistaat
Bayern"-sign. Actually it is just behind the bushes,
but unfortunately not caught on film.

Enjoy,
Mats
