Hello Guys,
Visited Madha yesterday on my way to Khorfakkan. Just entered- no
border post, no border controls, no nothing. It was a quiet day,
because it was Friday, the weekly holiday as well as Holy month of
Ramadan, hence scant number of tourists. However there were some
tourists on 4-WD vehicles. I wanted to visit Nahwa, the Sharjah
enclave within Madha, but the dirt track would not permit my car- a
humble Nissan 2-WD. According to a shopkeeper, Nahwa, abt 8 kms on
dirt track towards the west, consists of around 40 houses with its
own clinic, telephone exchange, etc- I have to check whether they
have any boundary posts present. He (the shopkeeper- a Malabari) also
says that Omani territory is fairly undeveloped and empty, whereas
Nahwa has some development on it.
Madha is mostly empty, with the developed portion called "New Madha"
which has excellent roads, a good school, post office, an 'Eid
ground, Police station, an Omani bank, electricity & water supply,
even an airstrip!
There's also a ROP patrol, with distinctive looking uniforms and
squad cars. There are two exits to Madha on the Fujairah-Khorfakkan
road. At the Northern exit, the border post stands fairly close to
the road, enabling a fancy pic.

I've prepared a large zip file with about 10 pics I'd taken on
digital camera. the resolution was set to max, but some of the pics
are not so good. This I'll post this separately.

Well, please let me know what you guys feel. I'll pay another visit,
as God wills, during 'Eid and try to visit Nahwa, but no guarantees.
Bye,
IMN
