Well, it seems that this confusion might end soon. During the
Lithuanian Seimas (parliament) Chairman's visit to Moscow, the
Russian Duma's Chairman told him that the Duma could put the
ratification of LTRU treaty onto its agenda already this year.
Russians held back for five freaking years, expecting to blackmail
Lithuania with this treaty, but after it worked on nothing, it seems
we might finally get it ratified! After ratification, of course, the
demarcation will start, and the border officialy starts at LTPLRU, so
it might be that GBBE might not make it to the chaos, and will see a
nice official tp, with all the borders around it actually set. now
ofcourse a new trilateral tp agreement will need to be signed and
ratified (which will take time), but there isn't much negotiation to
be done, since the tp is already in place (marker #1987). so i guess
the official tp won't be there yet, but the borders will be set, and
we ain't gonna be able to organize no more little sidetrips to
Russia:) Now, afterall, maybe LTPLRU should be done not from PL, but
form LT, cause it sure would be cool to visit the freshly baked LTRU
border, and I bet they will clear the trees around it.
but let's not get the hopes up too high, Russia has already made
promises like this before...but it might be for real this time, as
Kaliningrad transit is now settled, and Lithuania will be invited to
NATO in like three days, there's nothing left to hold it back for.
Just think of that day that Vistytis Farms residents will be freed!:)
Jan, I think if this ratification goes trough, you should let one of
the tv's know about this situation, it would make a great news report.
Also with the ratification will come an interesting situation of
lease of about 525 ha of lake Vistytis for 49 years.
