Why are traffic light poles in Holland painted in white-black <br/>
stripes?<br/>
<br/>
I mean you find from Delfzijl to Maastricht and from Philipsburg St <br/>
Maarten to Willemstad Curaçao.<br/>

What is the purpose of this and why was it invented?<br/>
