Sorry if this shows up twice.  I sent it and never got it back and it doesn't appear in the archives.

Bernd (and BP'ers in general),

Very bad news indeed, and you have my sincere sympathies (as I'm sure you have from all BP members) about the loss of your data.

This is something that has concerned me for a long time with respect to BoundaryPoint being hosted on Yahoo.  I've read similar stories about other Yahoo users...luckily this hasn't happened to us...yet.  Is it inevitable?  I don't know, but I think we should plan for it.

If anyone has any ideas about alternative hosting for BP, I for one would like to hear it.  The question of transferring existing data is also something about which we should give great thought.

Bill

I hope it is not inevitable.  I know how frustrating it can be to lose data.  I always try to make sites on my computer and upload as I make changes but I have two PCs, one that won't boot and the other won't turn on, so, at least for now, I have a lot of data I lost.

As for other sites that offer mailing lists/upload space, there used to be Microsoft® Listbot™ at <http://www.listbot.com> and you could set up your own Listbot™ but they shut it down.  They didn't have file space/photos/chatroom like Yahoo!, IIRC though.  Now though they do have MSN® Communities <http://communities.msn.com/> and they have chat/photos.  There is also Community Zero <http://www.communityzero.com>, which is like Yahoo! Groups too, IIRC.  Here's Yahoo!'s directory for mailing lists and forums: <http://dir.yahoo.com/Computers_and_Internet/Internet/Chats_and_Forums/Mailing_Lists/>.
