greetings anton
& glad to hear from the antons again generally as well

you know for a while back there i was imagining we were all antons
here
even made the mistake of trying to pin one of you down to a single
geoposition when all seemed to disappear at once
so i am very glad of your return & dont any of you ever be shy

also about geopositioning oneself
as you may know i have scrupled both to do this & not to do this at
various times
& also to try to evaluate the difference
but i have always liked to know not only where other members are
going but especially where they are coming from
yes even all the lurkers too if that were possible
since i do like still guessing that we are a single beingness anyway
even if we arent really all anton
for that was such a great fantasy

now about this also really interesting official subdivisions &
tripoints question
municipalities would certainly count as you say
& i confess i was cribbing from the same gwillim law site as my monty
python greenland tripointing map came from yesterday
so perhaps i have really put his foot in my mouth this time
but i at least imagined him fairly reliable
& he claims many independent states including even monaco do not meet
the latest international standards dated 1998 for even having
subdivisions of any actual relevancy at all to anything real

these states may have had real internal political boundaries in the
past & there may be a traditional sense of them in peoples minds
so they may even persist on maps

but he clearly indicates no dice for real tripointers
not even a snake eye

monaco & montserrat are neat cases in point

the latter used to have 3 parishes & a tripoint
as i myself even recall from a prevolcano prerockband visit there
& so it could conceivably complete another square dancing foursome
with our luxembourg & greenland & tajikistan trio
if such a light point could dance with us

also worth considering
today montserrat has a new map up on the net i cant find just now
featuring no parishes but 3 new zones called dangerous & moderate &
safe
& these even have a freakin tripoint
an explosive new sort of fiat tripoint
wish i could find it tho

also didnt i hear that the vatican differentiates between sacred &
profane space
& if it also distinguishes the holy of holies physicogeographically
too then it might indeed enjoy its own internal tripoint

so maybe no dice for monte carlo or montserrat according to law but i
myself wouldnt absolutely count the vatican out yet

with thanx for all these fascinating reflections
m
