hahahahaha
class e to be sure
another cosmic blackout
but i really did write something
it just didnt arrive

so i will try to reconstitute the original message from concentrate
while it is still the same day anyway
even if it isnt quite so fresh any more

still in the field as of this morning
on day 113 since my previous housing stop
tho i am under a roof tonight
so that ends this run well short of the record

but having tried zero points in the past several weeks
& unable to recall whether any other fresh tries afield have been
reported here during the same period
or perhaps even longer
did i miss something
well yes dougs forays
excuse me
& ah yes
jesper made some real pointing tries last month
but anyway
i did surprise even myself by making a spontaneous try for a
quaternary quadripoint of all things
cacosash by name in short
a point previously reported here by its full name but which i will
mention now only sans prefix since my present location is again a
closely guarded secret for reasons i will obfuscate further by adding
only that my previously reported position perhaps 3 weeks ago was
in my favorite state of md aka the free state
& i wanted to give the impression of holding steady there
tho that is actually no longer true geographically
only sentimentally
& those are the only clues i will give

but i did enjoy a fantastic couple of hours tramping & pacing on deer
& turkey trails to within probably 100 feet or so of my target
which was situated along a visible thalweg
& i photographed it probably class c
but what was most remarkable about this try was that the final
decision of where to center the photo frame was made not exactly by
me but rather for me by a protruding rock that fairly presented
itself in approximately the correct position
even seeming to split the thalweg in two
as if just to pose for the picture

this was not the first time i have adopted a found object whether
stationary or moving across the scene to represent a best guess or
try at either a clearly known or frankly uncertain position

fiat pointing i would call it
not because the point is on a fiat boundary
which in this case it was
but because one might just say let this object represent the point
fiat punctum
at least for the time being

indeed it is a very useful & satisfactory technique
somewhat like marking ones place with a bookmark
especially if a retry with better maps or aids is in the offing
which in this case it is because i believe i can do better
& could certainly wade out or paddle for a class b visit under the
right conditions
including using a usgs topo rather than just the delorme topo i
actually did use

& when i do return for the presumably more accurate sequel
the rock will be there to tell me how close i really was on the first
try

but that one final impulsive try does indeed conclude the present
outing
or rather the recent outing now
which you may recall began in horizontal rain last december at cape
perpetua many points & kilomiles ago
