I understand that there are markers along the UK base/Cyprus borders, and
gates too that can be closed if necesasary on the roads.
See the latest Lonely Planet guidebook and the original treaties of 1960 on
Cyprus (in the UN Treaty series or on the web at several Cyprus govt sites)

There are monolithic monuments on the Eng/Scotland boundary in places, and
fencelines and vegetation breaks follow the line, even if there are no
official pillars.
