gentlebums
i confess i never did return to denio
sounds almost like denial
but have been there at least twice before that i can recall
so i may fairly claim to have come close to ors without trying
no i am not a moderate extremist tho
dont worry about me
your only true immoderator
& without running out of gas as i probably would have had i tried

but it was particularly poignant i thought that jack & brian offered close
but different opinions
& that i have a third opinion somewhere between theirs

for i noticed on topozone that in addition to the numbered wooden mileposts
from the 1873 survey
there are also the intervening corner pins of the public land survey system
marked there by red crosses
very probably of more recent date
where the usgs depiction of the nvor boundary also appears to deflect
slightly

& since we dont know if these pins are legitimate turn points or just
another tiny usgs miscomprehension
nor whether topozone introduces additional distortion
we cant properly evaluate the positions of the mileposts nor of the corner
pins without the relevant paper topos
say from denio to say 5 miles westward
to judge from the state topo index maps
& since there are probably no nad data on these positions anyway
we must recover them all & lay a super deluxe gps on them all before even
forming plausible hypotheses

otherwise why make the trip

just to walk the line & claim a class b visit to a class a point

never
not me anyway

the complete cardinal news tour of oregon can wait
since ore means going back to hells canyon again anyway
& i have only class d visits at best for orn & orw so far

& we already have models of news tours for ct & de
so why bother so

but what will be new about oregon is that if i ever complete it
i will also make a claim to the rodman rim center point
for a complete star tour novelty

i realized i can do this because the usgs centerpoint data are only given in
full mile intervals except in a few small measurements of half miles
so when they say 25 they could well mean rodman rim
& i do call it rodman rim on the rebound

m

btw they give the center of hawaii in the ocean
