I obtained the position of the tri-point depicted on the USGS topo
map using Topozone, positioning the cross-hairs over the junction and
reading the UTM grid coordinates. When we visited this location, we
navigated to that point and then paced off 135 feet W to the witness
monument.

I have to agree that this point conflicts with the markings on the
monument, which I did not fully understand until I re-read BUS&SS
after the trip.

But why does anyone think 9 chains E of the monument is NOT in the
middle of the present channel of the Bois de Sioux? Using Topozone
again, if I measure 594 feet (181 meters along the UTM grid, which
provides a close approximation to E-W) it places the "initial point"
exactly in the middle of the river.

I will try to do some more digging to find out why the boundary is
shown as it is on the map because this also brings into question NDE.
