& the quintessential point on the breakwater is off limits at all times<br/>
  well that settled it<br/>
<br/>
but here is an update on the state of the points involved<br/>
<br/>
<br/>
the 1970s data just found in the nh law code establish<br/>
first<br/>
the point of departure for determining the position of the coincident point<br/>
  trisubdivisional us2menhus<br/>
    plus<br/>
  the double state cardinal point mes & nhe<br/>
    all 3 in one<br/>
<br/>
& these same data appear also  in passing  to determine the position of the<br/>
also coincident pair of dry state cardinal points  dry mes & dry nhe<br/>
<br/>
<br/>
the midpoint of the breakwater between  star island nh  &  cedar island me<br/>
is specified as the starting point of the very short penultimate course of<br/>
the menh state line running perpendicular from the breakwater in a<br/>
southeastwardly direction but only so far as the mean low tide line below<br/>
the breakwater<br/>
<br/>
but from the isobaths on the topo it is evident this course must be quite<br/>
short rather than  say  sprawling across some vast tidal flat<br/>
<br/>
so the positions of both ends of this short line are probably very close to<br/>
  north lat 42d 58m 36s  x  west long 70d 36m 40s<br/>
<br/>
<br/>
nor is it immediately clear why such a short segment has been interposed<br/>
here just before the final turn point<br/>
but no matter<br/>
<br/>
<br/>
for in any case the final turn point of the menh boundary<br/>
  at the low end of this little segment<br/>
sets the bearing of the final course of the state line<br/>
given in the code as 102 degrees east<br/>
  which i take to mean  e12s<br/>
<br/>
<br/>
now  about 3087 feet southeast of the breakwater along this final course<br/>
the line would appear to reach the shoal or low tide elevation known as<br/>
cedar island ledge & to intersect it near its northernmost point<br/>
thus evidently establishing there at mean low tide on the far side of this<br/>
projection the double dry cardinal point mes & nhe<br/>
before continuing without deflection 3 nautical miles or an additional<br/>
18240 feet to the treble coincident point  menhus plus absolute cards men &<br/>
nhe<br/>
<br/>
the final 102e bearing looks like it may have been set deliberately to hit<br/>
the north end of the shoal<br/>
perhaps the highest or only dry land point on that shoal<br/>
& thus to leave almost the entire shoal within new hampshire<br/>
& only its north tip in maine<br/>
<br/>
<br/>
so whoever can compute coords for the outer end of the 3087 foot course<br/>
& then also for the far end of the combined 21327 foot course<br/>
both running concurrently 102e from the lat & long given above<br/>
will be the first to know the most probable single position of dry mes&nhe<br/>
& also the first to know the most probable single position of menhus &<br/>
absolute mes&nhe<br/>
& i hope you will not keep me in suspense either  if you can get them<br/>
because i dont think i can get to these with my pencil either<br/>
