Yes I remember reading about that - apparently local planning laws did allow
for the bridges to stay up any longer. Having visited the area there are
several bridges in the Zittau area that are closed - I can only think it is
an issue of having border staff there that prevents their reopening. Every
DEPL border crossing I saw was staffed.
