world was hard to find<br/>
just wait til you see or rather dont see the<br/>
northernmost one<br/>
<br/>
for tho the southernmost terrestrial tripoint was just<br/>
identified earlier this week as being between the 49th<br/>
& 50th parallels of south latitude<br/>
its northern hemisphere counterpart <br/>
in stark contrast<br/>
will be found <br/>
if indeed it ever really is found<br/>
somewhere between the 69th & 70th parallels of north<br/>
lat<br/>
<br/>
& thats an amazing 20 degrees of greater extremity<br/>
<br/>
this however is perhaps not such a great surprise <br/>
since as you probably already knew <br/>
both finoru & finose are already way up there <br/>
& indeed several degrees beyond the arctic circle tho<br/>
still in europe<br/>
while the antarctic circle doesnt even kick in until<br/>
around<br/>
well <br/>
antarctica <br/>
by & large<br/>
<br/>
so <br/>
the task of finding the extremest tripoint not just in<br/>
the north but in the entire world is on a fairly<br/>
antarctic level of remoteness & extremity <br/>
while nevertheless remaining comfortably within<br/>
western civilization<br/>

for starters i considered<br/>

finose is evidently slightly the more extreme than<br/>
finoru<br/>
but that <br/>
probably a few minutes still farther north <br/>
is the tripoint of finnmark & troms counties of norway<br/>
with lappland province of finland <br/>
aka fino2filptr<br/>

encarta depiction<br/>

particularly on target<br/>

but the quest could still be taken a bit further<br/>
<br/>
for it has been fairly easy til now to distinguish<br/>
major tripoints from minor ones <br/>
merely by considering the primary or world class<br/>
together with all secondary regions or statoids within<br/>
it as being major <br/>
& anything on any lower level than these as being<br/>
minor<br/>
<br/>
or in other words by including all countries & their<br/>
most basic subdivisions such as states or provinces<br/>
etc <br/>
while leaving aside any lesser subdivisions such as<br/>
municipalities etc<br/>
<br/>
which makes for a fairly clearcut even if artificial<br/>
division & distinction<br/>
generally speaking<br/>
<br/>
but as i searched more carefully i also found far to<br/>
the east in russia <br/>
& a few minutes of latitude still farther north than<br/>
any of the others<br/>
the tripoint of a republic named yakutia or sakha<br/>
with 2 krays of the krasnoyarsk oblast named evenki &<br/>
taymyr<br/>
as shown here<br/>

which might reasonably be understood & coded as either<br/>

or else the somewhat lower subdivisional tripoint of<br/>
ru2kysk3ensktm<br/>

ignoring for the moment that i have no idea which of<br/>
the 33 named uluses or raions of sakha is really<br/>
involved here on the tertiary level<br/>
& hence repeating sk again <br/>
however indifferently<br/>
<br/>
<br/>
& this tripoint by whatever name or classification<br/>
tho undoubtedly farthest north of all<br/>
might or might not reasonably be considered to be on a<br/>
par with the abovementioned fino2filptr<br/>
on grounds either of being on the tertiary level<br/>
rather than truly secondary<br/>
& or of not being international but only internal<br/>
<br/>
worse yet tho<br/>
no data or pic etc of the even vaguely approximate<br/>
neighborhood can be found<br/>
for this is deepest siberia<br/>
<br/>
& worst or best of all<br/>
this tripoint is scheduled to be extinguished in<br/>
january when the taymyr & evenki krays are dissolved<br/>
into a by then no longer tripartite but fully unified<br/>
krasnoyarsk oblast<br/>
<br/>
oops<br/>
<br/>
so at best we have til january to find this baby<br/>
when it will become utterly negligible to nonexistent<br/>
& will be fully & finally outdone by the finnmark<br/>
lappland tromso candidate <br/>
if it isnt already<br/>
