recent report from lebanon
http://www.alertnet.org/thenews/newsdesk/L18730732.htm
& more detail here
http://www.arabicnews.com/ansub/Daily/Day/060213/2006021316.html
suggest the shabaa farms
of which there are reportedly 14 in all that are
claimed in varying degrees by 3 countries
must occupy a definite & likely contiguous area on one
side or the other of either illb or ilsy or lbsy
depending on how anyone prefers to look at them all

this best known map
http://www.mapi.gov.il/maps/100/zft.jpg
shows shabaa itself as a well defined locality a hair
southeast of grid intersection 306x220
or about 3km nw of the southern terminus on mount
hermon of the defacto illbsy triline
aka illbun or illbsyuns
shown there as a trijunction of the magenta illb & the
slate blue ilun & the funny black lbun line

the map also shows this shabaa to lie about 15km ne of
the dejure illbsy tripoint
which is at the tip of the fingerlike proruption just
west of grid intersection 294x209

it is possible that the 14 farms extend for 3km to
reach the triline
or even for 15km in the other direction also to reach
the dejure tripoint

indeed this map suggests the farms may extend from the
triline to the tripoint & even beyond
http://www.intelligence.org.il/eng/bu/hizbullah/pb/app2.htm

but can anyone find a good enough map or text
describing the farms themselves to tell if the parcel
of land they comprise actually abuts either the
triline or the tripoint
rather than just adjoining or approaching a portion of
the intervening boundary

the topology of such a triarea interrelating with a
triline & or a tripoint might be quite interesting &
unusual
if this can indeed be positively established
