border islets are very interesting & enjoyable
especially if monumented
& anyway i think we would follow you guys wherever you point your nose
at least from the comfort of our armchairs
the empty isles in particular tho seem tantamount to joint or neutral zones
a sort of no mans land in earnest
or everyones land if anyone prefers
for tho the border lines may fall & even be marked along the ground there
if no one is present to witness or care about them falling
well then it is the old paradox
same goes for crossborder tongues of land if isolated enough
the phenom is plain to see in the mohawk area along the caus boundary
this international & tricornered indian reservation comprises the only few
miles upon the entire transcontinental international border where the
standardized clearcutting & intervisibility of monuments are entirely
interrupted
  by impenetrable woods & thickets
just about all boundary areas
tho particularly many initial & terminal areas
have an air of benign neglect & even outright oblivion
but this rare essence is especially concentrated by islands & all other
such outlands
regardless of where these may fall along the line
