hahaha
an improvement on what

unless you just mean that the good old colonial era was better than the present

or perhaps it is that you are subtly inviting an improvement
aha
by directing our gaze toward the congo river thru the progression of the 2 black arrows
of which one must be a better & closer cdcfcg try than the other
insofar as we already know the true tripoint is in the middle of the ubangi river per
http://home.worldonline.dk/~jesniel/border/african_tripoints.htm
or if thats still down then per
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/BoundaryPoint/message/1061
while at the same time neither arrow evidently yet hits nor points quite correctly toward it

well in that case you are right too
& i am glad to finally understand as well as try to provide just that further improvement
upon the second of your already improving pair of arrow shots
which have brought us as far as the north side of mongumba & opposite libenge

for if you will search at encarta by typing in either mongoumba or libenge
should the following link fail to zoom you right in there directly
http://encarta.msn.com/encnet/features/mapcenter/map.aspx?
TextLatitude=3.480685958667424&TextLongitude=18.62597276901758&TextAltitude=

2%3B7%3B18583%3BLibenge%2C+Équateur%2C+Congo+%28DRC%29%3BLarge%3BCompre
hensive
you will find the tripoint is rightly shown there a good 20 km to the south or downriver
& indeed much closer to the masanga on your map than mongoumba
or in other words just above the next left bank tributary confluence that is shown on both
this old map & encarta
tho there is no longer any trace of masanga on maps of the present era

& at encarta you can even see the village of mboulou that is mentioned by brownlie as well
as the tripointing tributary evidently
which he calls the gouga river in the extract below

central african republic
congo
congo democratic republic

based on french administrative division
tripoint is presumptively on thalweg of ubangi river
&
based on maps by brownlie
also specifically at its confluence with the gouga river
just above the village of mboulou congo

this pic is evidently also a little too far upriver
http://encarta.msn.com/encnet/refpages/RefMedia.aspx?refid=461542570
but since we had no pic til now
it too is an improvement
as well as obviously also an invitation to further improvement
