but so far only this beguiling whiff
http://www.ethiopians.com/abay/engin.html
& a fishy one it could well be at that
since egsd border relations actually bottomed out in
1992
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hala'ib_Triangle
& have never really recovered
& the egsd ibs dated 1962 says there were still no
known egsd border negotiations as of that date
er
so how about a monument to the 50th anniversary of
sudanese independence from egypt
er
except that didnt happen til this week i think
er
or how about a bus stop on the number 50 line
but seriously tho
another glimmer on the horizon besides mohamed is the
intriguing fact
overlooked til now
that the original 1925 italo egyptian eglysd trifinium
was rotated 90 degrees on 20 july 1934
from a north facing tee to the present east facing one
by the significantly
tripartite
italo british egyptian agreement of rome
which transferred the sarra triangle just sw of eglysd
from sudan to libya
so if this agreement
whether it occasioned any new demarcation or not
chances to merely include a datumized map or just the
right stray wording
then we could already be home free & hope to nail
eglysd with that single find
& dispense with or rather save for another occasion
this delicious but herculean to impossible task of
finding not 1 but 2 datums & producing an intersection
from them
& i know these old colonial treaties can be elusive &
their maps even moreso than their texts
but it may finally be time to consult that ultimate
treasure trove

well but anyway lets wait til mohamed comes in first
