fresh today & potentially very exciting news for all
american connectivity
http://www.bnamericas.com/story.jsp?sector=5¬icia=337174&idioma=I
which i hastily report
without pausing to dote on any particular tripoint
but for an idle speculation i will toss in at the end
since clearly this news could have far reaching
multipointing implications & reverberations

also likely recent
http://www.elcolombiano.terra.com.co/BancoConocimiento/L/la_selva_aun_frena__a_la_panamericana/la_selva_aun_frena__a_la_panamericana.asp?CodSeccion=1
including a gratuitous border marker pic

or by whimsical translation if you prefer
http://translate.google.com/translate?hl=en&sl=es&u=http://www.elcolombiano.terra.com.co/BancoConocimiento/L/la_selva_aun_frena__a_la_panamericana/la_selva_aun_frena__a_la_panamericana.asp%3FCodSeccion%3D1&prev=/search%3Fq%3D%2522lomas%2Baisladas%2522%26num%3D30%26hl%3Den%26lr%3D%26client%3Dsafari%26rls%3Den

that copa marker at palo de las letras btw is from the
1935 to 1938 series
hito number 11 in fact
of 14 in all
as i learned here in color highlights
http://64.233.187.104/search?q=cache:LAvpBVp23P8J:bdigital.binal.ac.pa/bdp/geograf-cont7.pdf+%22palo+de+las+letras%22+hito&hl=en&start=1&client=safari

this map shows yaviza & palo de las letras ok
http://multimap.com/map/browse.cgi?client=public&X=-8600000&Y=850000&width=700&height=400&gride=&gridn=&srec=0&coordsys=mercator&db=w3&addr1=&addr2=&addr3=&pc=&advanced=&local=&localinfosel=&kw=&inmap=&table=&ovtype=&keepicon=&zm=0&out.x=6&out.y=7&scale=1000000
but on the colombian side el tigre & lomas aisladas
are more elusive

my guess is due east from palo de las letras

but also
in that color marked list of hitos
i was intrigued enough to consider & seriously wonder
whether one of the lower numbers in the series
like particularly hito number 2
mightnt actually mark the binational tripoint of
copa2chdasa shown here
http://www.lib.utexas.edu/maps/americas/panama.jpg
where the darien & san blas provinces of panama meet
the choco department of colombia
at a ridge line trijunction
