<div>that the circa1657 salisbury hampton bound rock remains the leading candidate for americas oldest known working rock</div>

<div>that the 1664 heape of stones on the circa1628 mass bay plymouth line remains second</div>

<div>that&nbsp;the latter&nbsp;was formerly merely misdated to the 1620s</div>
<div>if indeed it has ever been positively identified in any case</div>

<div>but here is a next question</div>

<div>assuming 1657 is the date of the earliest working rock in british colonial america</div>
<div>can we then also safely assume it is the oldest in all colonial america</div>
<div>including french spanish portuguese dutch swedish &amp; finnish colonial america</div>

<div>or might there be some other candidate lurking for us to discover&nbsp;somewhere else in the americas</div>

<div>one might even say they are an&nbsp;infinitesimally small subset&nbsp;as well as&nbsp;a&nbsp;distinct phenomenon</div>
