episode 2 of the complete runaround & standoff
recently begun & reported in
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/BoundaryPoint/message/17364
started up with a midnight realization that i had been
addressing my objective by the wrong name
of egshmw
owing to an inadvertent misalphabetizing of its
component diglyphs

& had been hideously mispronouncing it too
as egg shmoo
rather than properly saluting it by its best available
name
which i see now should actually be written egmwsh
& presumably uttered eggmoosh

which could entirely explain the extreme elusiveness
this point has repaid me with so far

& bodes very well indeed for my new improved retry
already under way

& which has also just led to the next most important
realization
which is
that tho the lower gate in salisbury can be expected
to open like clockwork around this time every year
the more important upper gate
on the mt everett reservation road
may not be about to open at all
as this site implies
http://www.mass.gov/dcr/parks/western/meve.htm

so
that easy 4 mile jaunt down from & then back up to
guilder pond that i was looking forward to
has deteriorated once again into a much more committed
8 mile hike from east street over the top of the ridge
& back
http://topozone.com/map.asp?z=18&n=4663171&e=629336&s=50&size=l&datum=nad83&layer=DRG25

yet that is actually good news
for it makes me reconsider the next best option
which was to return to the maintenance road that leads
halfway up the mountain from the berkshire school to
the foot of the high cascade
& then to either sawanabori straight up until i can
circle back across the ledge
or else climb the adjacent elbow trail up to the
appalachian trail on the ridge & close in from there
by bushwhacking along egmw
which should also be a well blazed forest boundary
line

all of which you can see just west of the berkshire
school
on both the topo & this more current trail map
http://www.mass.gov/dcr/parks/trails/mt-washington800.gif
except for the maintenance road itself
which isnt on either of them
& actually winds up on the north side of the ravine
more or less directly below the tripoint & probably
not more than a few hundred yards away from it
horizontally
as well as vertically
best i can tell so far anyway

so without further ado
its off to school again & as straight up as i can go

beeps

btw & also overnight here
pakistan did indeed win the cricket rematch against
all odds
coming from nowhere & evening off the overall series
at visitors all & home team zero

& the heavily indian crowd did get a little pissed at
their team
hahaha
but all remains well
as the leaders huddle one last time
before their parting embrace scheduled for later today

toodles
