There was a piece on one of the Discovery Channels the other day about this
island. Underwater archaeologists might have found some remains of Kublai
Khan's doomed 1281 invasion fleet when he was intent on attacking Japan and
the Divine Wind (kamikaze) saved the islands. They called it Takeshima and
had no problem calling it part of Japan.
