Didn't the last "disputed" enclave got sorted out when they cleared out the mess a few years ago?

Subject: AW: AW: [BoundaryPoint] Brendans second thesis

Any info I have myself about Baarle? I do have a self-written article that runs about 100 pages, with pics and maps, all stolen from the web. My interest, weird as it sounds, is mountain climbing. You may wonder which kinds of mountains I climbed in Baarle. Actually I am "collecting" all highest points of each European country, including autonomous regions, colonies (Gibraltar), enclaves/exclaves, and other unusual political entities - as Baarle and other places in Europe are concerned, my "climbing" is rather identifying the highest spot and taking a picture of it. In Baarle I failed so far finding the highest point in either of the enclaves. And this is the thrill of my writing: I reflect about the sense and nonsense of mountain climbing, together with the sense and nonsense of borders.

An unsolved puzzle to me is still one of the many Baarle enclaves which is said NOT to belong to anybody, neither Holland, nor Belgium. Doea anybody of you have precise info where it is located?

Dr Brendan Whyte is a scholar based in Melbourne,
Australia I believe, who occasionally contributes to
our discussions here at BoundaryPoint.

His doctoral thesis centered on the multitude of
Indian/Bangladeshi exclaves at Cooch Behar.

I am sure the excellent and top-of-the-line search
function here at Yahoo will help you find some
messages from Brendan, and with some luck his mail
address. (As I don't have more than a few days to
spare right now, I'm unable to assist with the
search... :)

By the way, any information you might have yourself
about Baarle (or any other exclave for that matter),
such as maps, treaties, stories, pictures, or anything
else, you'll be most welcome to share with us here.
Don't worry about sharing old news, we love it just
the same.

M
