locals here are evidently a lot more scared of how the united states air
force might react to any uncontrolled or otherwise irregular reentry than
of anything the cuban air force might do 50 miles out
They should
be. When crossing the ADIZ inbound, you have to file a special "defense"
VFR or IFR flight plan. If you miss your filed crossing time by more than
five minutes, they will scramble and "escort" you in...at significant taxpayer
expense. There's nothing like seeing the business end of an F-15 off
your tail.
