most propitious soaking rain & another free ride almost to the exact <br/>
neighborhood<br/>
because what i really need to do next is throw a canoe onto the truck & <br/>
launch it into state line pond so i can personally compare both feeder <br/>
streams<br/>
preferably on a dry & therefore nonconfusing day<br/>

the following inconclusive but still fairly suggestive aerial photo shows <br/>
the unnamed brook popping out visually<br/>
at right<br/>
far more than sawmill brook ever pops out<br/>
at top<br/>

but zooming in any farther on the actual stream mouths is no real help<br/>

& a reliable comparison of the surface areas of these 2 so nearly equal <br/>
watersheds would really require paper copies of the several topo sheets for <br/>
the necessary accuracy<br/>
while ordering these could slow us down for weeks<br/>
<br/>

so the only careful but still aggressive continuation does appear to be by <br/>
canoe<br/>
<br/>
& we can always resort to the watershed area comparison later<br/>
if this visual stream volume comparison is inconclusive<br/>
<br/>
<br/>
but be all that as it may<br/>
i can tell you already now<br/>
i have previously scouted out the tops of both watersheds<br/>
& they are so overgrown right now with veggies & bugs<br/>
that it really wont be possible to complete the sourcing without a machete <br/>
etc till fall dieback anyway<br/>
regardless of the canoe or paper topo outcomes<br/>

so still no hurry to load the canoe<br/>
but i will be returning to state line pond today anyway<br/>
for the third cosmic free ride<br/>
just to continue reconnoitering<br/>
