The police force is actually known as 'Lothian and Borders' and covers the
area of the Borders unitary district, plus the four unitary districts
around Edinburgh (which formerly made-up the Lothian Region). It is a
regular police force and has nothing to do with patrolling the
England-Scotland border which is completely open anyway.
