In the Versailles Treaty after World War I, Alsace-Lorraine was given
back
to FR
Does anybody know if the pre WW1 DEFR goes along the
present Alsace-Lorraine
borders, and if so, did anybody ever look for the
ghost BEDEFR? If
preWW1DEFR=Alsace Lorraine then it should be very easily
accesible from the
road. I only have a 1:100 000 map of the spot and there is
no indication of
momuments (plural as the point appears to be wet).
As
formerly stated, BEFR is to me strangely marked as markers are old FRNL,
ATFR
mixed with newer BEFR. That's why I would expect markings still to be
there.
There is no "International Boundary Study" on BEFR, and Gideon does
not
mention it, but what kind of border demarcation document do BE &
FR
have?
Regarding DEFRLU. Even if I was just there two weeks ago, I
forgot to check
the first DEFR marker for a date. On the side facing the
tripoint it says
N.I. We still don't really know what that means. But the
border here has to
be newer than WW1?
Doug: do you remember that in
2001 there was a flate on top of that first
marker? You left your card under
it? The plate is now gone, and your card,
too.

PS did I
tell you that during the holiday, we also went to Disneyland Paris,
and even
there I was looking for the boundaries between Frontierland
and
Adventureland, etc. My car is back in Copenhagen, but still at the
workshop
:-(
