likely they are both just flat islands close enough to italy to have <br/>
each been named flat island in the italian language of the time in <br/>
which they were named <br/>
independently & without relation to each other <br/>
<br/>
other flat italian islands go by the name of isola piana<br/>
using the more usual modern form of the italian word for flat <br/>
<br/>
20 islands in the usa are also named flat island <br/>
11 of them scattered around alaska<br/>
etc etc</div>
