I think that the KT-markers are also some sort of
geodetic reference points, just like the
Vermessungssteine.

The purpose of a reference point is to establish a
point which locality is well known and possible to
verify (by measurement) in some reference grid, i.e.
coordinate system.

From a dense and high quality network of reference
points good measurements for roads, buildings,
boundaries etc can be made.

I think perhaps that the K means "Kreis", as in
commune. What the T means I don't know at all.

Here is a picture of the KT-marker mentioned in Peters
drawings.

The rock in the middle of the picture is the one with
the 110-mark on it, which is facing right so we cannot
see it. The camera looks south, from Jungholz into
Austria.

And here is a close-up:

If i remember correctly the Vermessungssteine looked
just like the KT-stones.
