From today's news reports, it appears that the Turkish-Cypriot vote on
which the unification depends and which would lead to changes in
borders of UK bases on Cyprus isn't turning out to be the "slam dunk"
some predicted it would be. With 90% of the votes counted, according
to the article, 51% of the popular vote was pro-unification, 45%
against. The article didn't say what happened to the other 6%. The
percentages mean each side controls 25 seats in the Turkish side's
parliament.
