returned to white clay creek state park at dawn today for the <br/>
continuation of the m&d point of origin try<br/>
& soon found the correct path & indeed the post marked west itself<br/>
more or less exactly where predicted<br/>
& just as a buck bolted from hiding there<br/>
<br/>
the original wooden post has been replaced by a dressed untapered <br/>
obeliskoid stone <br/>
date unknown but stylistically about 1870<br/>
maybe 10 inches square & 3 feet above ground<br/>
with a pyramidal cap so foreshortened that the apex was smooth rather <br/>
than pointy<br/>

the top of the west face is marked west<br/>
& commemorative inscriptions adorn the north & east faces<br/>
but the south face is mysteriously blank & deeply pocked<br/>
leaving me to guess that it may once have been fastened to the north <br/>
face of a similar if not the original wooden post also marked west<br/>
perhaps long since disintegrated or yanked<br/>

so thats about it for the 3 m&d preliminary points<br/>
but while i am here at udel<br/>
which is the veritable hub of delaware boundary pointing<br/>
i will also try to find the source documents to answer the questions <br/>
about the several different new castle arcs <br/>
as well as any other specifics anyone can remind me of while i am here</div>
