These two shots (sorry again about quality) are of Varashev's Stone (Variskivi), which was established and marked as the Russia-Sweden border in 1618. The treaty was signed in 1617 to demarcate the border at this location on the shores of Lake Ladoga.

Over the centuries and decades, the stone was carved on top to show the borderline, and in 1934, as you can see from these photos, it was marked clearly again on the end. Until Russia pushed the Finnish border westward during World War Two, this marked the Russia-Finland border.
